Job Summary:
Coaches Scrum team to deliver value incrementally, using best Agile/Scrum practices. Drives the execution of sprints by removing impediments, facilitating agile meetings, backlog reviews, sprint planning, sprint reviews, reporting (burndown charts, task progress) and day-to-day decision making. Drive retrospective meetings to help the team become more productive over time. Facilitates an environment for the Scrum team to organize themselves around their work, helping them become self-aware to what is blocking results, and to influence them to become self-correcting, selforganizing and continuously improving the way they work. Utilizes strong listening and observation skills to engage the Scrum team when necessary to build connections. Guides the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to get the most out of self-organization to fill intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks. Facilitates discussion, decision making and conflict resolution while getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work. Assesses the Scrum maturity of the team and organization and coaches the team to higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
Job Responsibilities:
• Scrum master is responsible to facilitating daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo and retrospective ceremonies
• Possesses conflict resolution, focuses conversation to align on scrum values of openness, honesty and respect.
• Should be a friendly communicative person, because when team is moving fast in Agile, communication is the effective force which holds the team together.
• Needs to forecast the numbers of deliverables possible in an iteration, which is based on evidence and reliable source.
• Needs to be expert in estimation and planning. He knows how to create useful, reliable and practical plans for software development projects.
• Should be a good coach in Agile practices. S/he can coach individuals and interactions over processes and tools.
• Help team or individual to clarify goals and actions to achieve them.
• Ability to shield his team from outside distractions and interferences.
• Ability to ensure the correct use of scrum process.
• Ability to track and remove impediments.
• Scrum master is a servant first, who serves his team members before considering about himself
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Understand and adhere to all corporate policies to include but not limited to the ACI Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required for the job:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 8-10 years of previous release and/or project management experience
• 8+ years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development
• Formal training in Agile Methodologies, Extreme Programming, Facilitation, and public speaking preferred
• Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
• Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must
• General PC knowledge including Microsoft Office expert level knowledge of Excel, Jira, Confluence
• Facilitate the team for better creativity and tries to improve the efficiency of the development team.
• Responsible for managing the scrum process with the coordination of scrum team in Agile methodology.
• Responsible to remove the impediments for the scrum team.
• Arranged daily stand-up meetings, facilitate meetings, schedule meetings, demo and decisionmaking processes to ensure quick inspection and proper use of adaptation process.
• Helps product owner to make the product backlogs in good shape and make them ready for the next sprint.
• Responsible to Conduct retrospective meetings.
• Organizes and facilitates the sprint planning meeting.
• Acts as safeguard for his/her team.
Technical Skills:
• Knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.
• Good skills to coach team how to follow agile scrum, which really works.
• Understand the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development.
• Strong knowledge of Scrum theory, rules and practices.
• Knowledge of other Agile approaches, like: Kanban, Crystal, FDD, XP, etc.
• Knowledge about other methodologies other than Agile-Scrum, so that he can explain other methodologies to motivate his team.
• Basic knowledge of software development processes and procedures to understand his team needs.
• Should have knowledge about Agile techniques like: User Stories, Continuous Integration, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
• Ability to take and understand his commitment to deliver the product on time.
• Know about the value of metrics and incremental delivery.
• Knowledge about tasks, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, user stories etc.
• Familiar with common development practices, Service and product oriented environments, and Agile practices.
• Proficient understanding of ACI managerial toolset
