Head of Data and Analytics (Bi-Lingual: Spanish & English)
Location: Remote within North or South America (with periodic travel to company headquarters in Medellín, Colombia)

Job Description:
We are seeking a bi-lingual (Spanish and English) Head of Data and Analytics will play a pivotal role in our expansion, managing our data assets, leading the development of analytics solutions, and nurturing a data-centric culture. You will be tasked with integrating disparate data sources from potential acquisitions, standardizing and normalizing data for seamless integration, and generating actionable insights that propel strategic decision-making. We currently have a two-person internal data team. Key objectives for this role include:
- Building and developing the Data organization and team inside FSH
- Increasing the utilization of data-driven decision frameworks within the company
- Developing and implementing a standard data taxonomy/schema of floral products that facilitates the normalization of products in an e-commerce setting and supports end-to-end supply traceability
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy in alignment with our company goals, including our plans for rapid expansion and potential acquisitions.
- Oversee the normalization of floral business inventory to enhance its marketability through our B2B wholesale e-commerce channel.
- Integrate and manage new data sources seamlessly as the company expands and acquires additional businesses.
- Manage and mentor a high-performing data team, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and quick execution across the organization.
- Building the Data Organization: Lead the construction and evolution of our data organization and product-level teams, aligning them cohesively with business objectives.
- Business Vision: Employ a business-minded approach to data, strategizing how data assets can contribute to the business's overall vision and growth, and collaborating with the senior leadership team to inform strategic decision-making through data-driven insights.
- Leadership in Project Execution: Exhibit strong leadership skills, efficiently managing and executing data-centric projects and initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrate adept negotiation skills while liaising with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration and synergy.
- Data Governance and Consistency: Oversee and ensure the consistency and proper governance of all data assets, establishing best practices and standards, including the master catalog and taxonomy for floral products.
- Technical Expertise and Operational Involvement: Contribute to the development of the operative work and the technical and technological skills of the team.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience in a leadership role within a data & analytics function, showcasing technical proficiency, team management, and a demonstrated trajectory towards senior leadership positions.
- Knowledge and experience in data analysis, storage, and visualization solutions, ideally in tools like Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt and Sigma or similar; experience leading negotiation on vendor contracts and terms.
- Experience with integrating new data sources and managing data during mergers or acquisitions.
- Preference for familiarity with GDPR or other data privacy and data segregation regulations (e.g. HIPAA).
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a track record of fostering a results-oriented culture.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex business logic or supply chain flows into actionable data strategies.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field; Master's degree or PhD preferred.
- Ability to travel periodically to Medellín, Colombia, for meetings and workshops.
