About the role

We're looking for a Tech Lead who can join the Winona Engineering team.

As a Tech Lead, you'll be a trusted advisor and own the entire technical lifecycle for assigned projects.

You'll apply your broad range of specialized skills to tackle complex challenges, requiring innovative solutions and a deep understanding of technical concepts.

You'll independently plan and execute project development, fostering collaboration and resolving conflicts within the team.

Responsibilities

Technical Direction and Leadership

• Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and leadership for a single team, making key decisions regarding architecture, frameworks, and tools.
  
  
• Mentorship: Offer guidance and support to other engineers, facilitating their skill development through regular one‑on‑one meetings.
  
  
• Issue Escalation: Proactively escalate issues to the Engineering Manager and Human Resources Director as needed.
  
  
• Work Environment Promotion: Actively promote and contribute to a healthy, safe, and collaborative work environment.
  
  

Day‑to‑Day Engineering Collaboration

• Hands‑On Contribution: Collaborate closely with engineers on a daily basis, contributing to hands‑on coding and implementation efforts.
  
  
• Code Quality Assurance: Ensure code quality through rigorous code reviews, pair programming, and adherence to best practices.
  
  
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical specifications.
  
  
• Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot complex technical issues as they arise during development and deployment.
  
  

Technical Strategy Development

• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive technical strategy that aligns with product vision and broader business goals.
  
  
• Tradeoff Evaluation: Make relevant tradeoffs between speed, scalability, and technical complexity when shaping product and engineering decisions.
  
  

Team Leadership and Management

• Team Leadership: Lead the technical team in architecting, designing, and delivering high‑quality, scalable software solutions.
  
  
• Best Practices Advocacy: Champion industry best practices in software development, ensuring consistent coding standards and process improvements.
  
  
• Innovative Solutions Implementation: Identify and implement innovative technical solutions to address complex functionalities and system requirements.
  
  
• Problem Breakdown and Task Management: Decompose complex technical challenges into clear, actionable tasks.
  
  Prioritize and manage the technical workload effectively.
  
  
• Code Review and Mentorship: Conduct thorough code reviews and mentor team members to support their technical growth and quality output.
  
  
• Team Collaboration and Support: Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, encouraging open communication and peer learning.
  
  
• Proactive Conflict Resolution: Identify potential technical conflicts or bottlenecks early and resolve them independently or collaboratively.
  
  
• Technology Trends Monitoring: Stay current with emerging technologies, evaluating their relevance and potential for improving the development process.
  
  

Communication and Client Interaction

• Client Presentations & Demos: Comfortable presenting work and conducting demos for clients, with clear, confident communication.
  
  
• Clear Communication: Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  
  
• Professional Audio/Video Presence: Maintain a professional audio and video setup suitable for remote collaboration and client interactions.
  
  
• Documentation: Maintain clear, organized, and up‑to‑date technical documentation to ensure team alignment and knowledge sharing.
  
  

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience, including at least 1–2 years in a technical lead or equivalent leadership role
• Proven experience leading technical projects from inception to completion
• Mastery of relevant programming languages, frameworks, and development tools
• Strong experience using and working with Contentful
• Strong experience working with Webflow, WordPress, ReactJS, Javascript, AWS, and PostgreSQL
• Experience working with Nuxt.js
• Strong understanding of system architecture and design patterns
• Expertise in agile development methodologies and project management tools
• Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple concurrent projects
• Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
• Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong leadership, mentorship, and task delegation capabilities
• Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and industry trends
• Experience in process improvement and driving change within a team or organization
