What You'll Be Doing
As part of a small, you will be reporting to an Australian Manager and collaborative team.
You'll own the full lifecycle of new Shopify applications (including Shopify POS integrations) for the Shopify App Store:
- Design and build reliable, maintainable back-end services and app features with an API-first approach (REST/GraphQL), supported by automated tests.
- Plan sprints and choose the right tools and frameworks to deliver clear, incremental value.
- Ship confidently: deliver an MVP within 90 days, then iterate to launch and scale.
- Elevate quality: write clean, well-documented code; resolve issues quickly; improve performance.
- Collaborate openly: share progress, risks, and ideas; document decisions for team clarity.
- Focus on outcomes: meet agreed timelines, uphold coding standards, and communicate proactively in a remote environment.
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of professional software development (in-house, agency, or product) with strong back-end focus.
- Hands-on Shopify app development (Admin APIs, POS, webhooks),
- Experience building tested code (unit/integration), using TDD/SOLID and Agile practices.
- API-first design and integrations with external platforms.
- Strong typing mindset (e.g., TypeScript, C#, Java, or similar) and excellent documentation habits.
- Comfort working independently as the sole developer on a project; reliable, clear communicator.
Bonus Points For
- JavaScript/TypeScript ) and/or Ruby on Rails for app backends; familiarity with modern front end ).
- CI/CD pipelines, GitHub/Git collaboration, and cloud deployment experience.
- Interest in merchant experience, ecommerce workflows, and point-of-sale integrations.
