3iS is an international non-profit that provides information management services to humanitarian and development organizations.
Project context: strengthen coordination among humanitarian actors through data analysis, information management, and knowledge sharing to improve decision making and response capacity.
The project seeks to empower partner organizations with data-driven insights and promote beneficiary-centric approaches.
Responsibilities
- Compile, clean, process and analyze information from primary and secondary data sources using appropriate methodologies.
- Prepare, draft and present technical reports and information products for coordination bodies, decision-making spaces, and dissemination processes.
- Identify, establish and manage information exchange flows with key actors and institutions according to project requirements.
- Apply data processing and analysis methodologies and document procedures in detail.
- Review, validate and propose relevant statistical methodologies for data collection, processing and analysis (primary and secondary data).
- Provide technical assistance in implementing AI-based solutions for process automation, development of conversational agents, and predictive analysis.
- Develop and maintain reproducible, efficient scripts for statistical analysis using Python, R, Stata, or other appropriate tools.
- Design and generate interactive visualizations and automated reports using tools such as Power BI, online dashboards or notebooks.
- Maintain clear, structured technical documentation on processes, workflows and best practices in data science.
- Plan work, communicate progress, challenges and risks to the project lead; participate in in-person project spaces as required; undertake field missions when needed.
- Prepare monthly progress reports and ensure timely delivery of products.
- Contribute to cross-cutting groups and support the knowledge management strategy, including internal knowledge on statistics and AI in data management.
Qualifications
Education: University degree in statistics, mathematics, data science, economics or related fields.
Postgraduate studies or additional training in data science, AI or machine learning are desirable.
Experience: At least three (3) years of proven experience in activities similar to those described here.
Humanitarian sector experience is desirable.
Experience in data analysis and collection (primary and secondary) and familiarity with AI tools, process automation or intelligent agents is desirable.
Experience producing technical reports or analytical products for non-specialist audiences is valuable.
Technical Skills:
- Strong foundation in statistics, data science or related disciplines with applied data handling skills.
- Descriptive and inferential statistics, including sampling, multivariate analysis and predictive modeling.
- Proficiency in statistical programming languages (Python or R).
- Experience with AI tools applied to data (machine learning, NLP, rule-based agents, or language models).
- Knowledge of statistical software (SPSS, SAS, STATA, R or equivalent).
- Experience with data visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau or similar).
- Database and information systems skills for data extraction, transformation and analysis from diverse sources.
- Advanced MS Office, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Results-oriented approach with ability to meet standards and measurable targets via management indicators.
- Documentation and clear communication of technical results; ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary, dynamic teams.
Languages: Fluent Spanish (spoken and written).
Intermediate English (spoken and written).
