The Senior Lifecycle Specialist, Employee Relations & Transitions independently manages all employee exits for Remote's external employees with a focus on legal compliance, quality, and delightful customer service.
The specialist also provides first-level Employee Relations support and guides clients through workplace concerns while coordinating appropriate resources.
The role includes driving process improvements aligned with Remote's strategic goals and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and resolve complex end-to-end employee exits across multiple international jurisdictions with minimal supervision, prioritizing a superior offboarding experience for Remote's clients and employees.
- Provide guidance with an elevated knowledge of key jurisdictions and manage client requests on HR matters, including termination, resignation, transfers, employment contracts, and redundancy processes, ensuring legal compliance and best practices.
- Independently lead and facilitate meetings with clients and external employees, including workforce reduction consultations, administrative hearings, separations negotiations, and termination outcomes.
- Influence and negotiate positive outcomes in complex terminations, coordinating multiple stakeholders through lengthy processes.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance in offboarding activities and audits (payroll, legal counsel, government bodies, unions).
- Draft, tailor, and administer termination and supplementary documents with attention to privacy and confidentiality.
- Process offboarding on Remote's internal HRIS platform and collaborate with teams such as Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and Time & Attendance.
- Act as first point of informal escalation, mentoring junior team members and guiding clients on Remote's Employee Relations resources.
- Conduct preliminary assessments of workplace concerns, identify key facts and applicable regulations, and present paths forward.
- Serve as a trusted resource on employee relations matters for internal and external stakeholders.
- Guide clients on progressive disciplinary approaches, documentation, and best practices for difficult situations.
- Track and monitor ongoing employee relations cases with timely follow-up and coordination with stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, automation, product development, and overall customer/employee experience in offboarding and employee relations.
- Define methods and standards for new assignments, applying judgment to select methods and evaluate results in alignment with Lifecycle and Remote needs.
What you bring
- Extensive experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner with generalist HR competencies across the employee lifecycle.
- Tertiary qualifications in HR/labour relations/employment law are a plus.
- Proven experience managing voluntary and involuntary exits with care, legal compliance, and providing HR guidance on employment laws across jurisdictions.
- Understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline, and workplace investigation fundamentals.
- Ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments, analyze complex HR issues, and communicate recommendations clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Superior communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills; ability to lead difficult conversations with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Business-level (advanced) proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Aptitude to innovate and optimize processes, including identifying automation opportunities and best practices.
- Focus on data integrity and thorough record-keeping; tech-savvy with asynchronous collaboration across tools.
- Ability to work autonomously and in an international, fast-paced remote team; willingness to work flexible hours.
- Proactive, self-motivated with ownership and accountability, and the ability to inspire others.

Compensation and Benefits
Remote's Total Rewards philosophy ensures fair, unbiased compensation and competitive benefits in all locations.
Base salary range for this full-time position is 41,900 to 94,300 USD, dependent on location and qualifications.
Geographical pay differentials are considered as part of our global compensation strategy.
