JOB TITLE: Senior Software Engineer (Backend - APIs)

The Backend API Services Team at ViX is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our organization! The backend developer will assist in the design, development, and testing of the required software for managing the APIs used in VIX's streaming backend.

These services, built with GraphQL and REST technologies, function as a middleware layer between clients and content syndication.

This is handled within an agile development framework.

ABOUT YOU:

You are a skilled backend engineer with experience leading teams and managing complex data workflows.

You have a deep understanding of Node.js, API Rest, API GraphQL, MongoDB, and you thrive in a collaborative agile environment.

You are driven by operational excellence and are adept at balancing technical debt with business goals.

You are a proactive problem solver with a strong sense of ownership and leadership.



YOUR DAY-DAY: (aka Responsibilities)

+ The Software Engineer to deliver high-quality, efficient backend solutions (Javascript, TypeScript, Nest).

+ Design and implement scalable, resilient, and efficient backend services using Node.js and MongoDB.

+ Review requirements and assess product needs based on the existing architectural capabilities

+ Oversee ETL workflows and ensure seamless metadata management across the streaming platform.

+ Designed and built Swagger-based API documentation for RESTful services

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data engineers, QA teams and front-end developers.

+ Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members to foster growth and excellence.

+ Ensure operational excellence, including monitoring, alerting, and performance optimization.

+ Manage technical debt effectively while meeting business objectives.

+ Engage in the standard agile ceremonies as part of the team’s workflow

+ Drive continuous improvement initiatives and AI adoption

+ Work with distributed teams across multiple time zones.
YOU HAVE: (aka Qualifications)

+ 7+ years of software development experience as a technical individual contributor

+ 4+ years of hands-on API and system development.



+ 5+ years of cloud-based development

+ Strong experience with ETL processes and data workflows.

+ Hands-on experience with collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence), version control (GitHub), and AI-driven platforms

+ Proven expertise in designing, maintaining, and optimizing CI/CD workflows within agile development frameworks

+ Proven expertise in architecting, implementing, and maintaining scalable microservices solutions.

+ Have an expert level understanding of APIs (REST and/or GraphQL).
