Role Summary
- As a
Network Consulting Engineer (NCE)
you will be responsible for delivering advanced consulting services in Cisco Data Center technologies.
This includes
design, deployment, migration, optimization, and troubleshooting
of complex infrastructures, with a strong focus on Cisco ACI, Nexus platforms, Routing & Switching, and network automation.
The role requires a mix of
technical expertise, consulting skills, and customer engagement
, ensuring the successful execution of projects and the continuous improvement of customer environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted technical advisor for enterprise customers in Data Center initiatives.
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of Data Center migration and implementation projects.
- Deliver hands-on configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of Cisco ACI fabrics, Nexus platforms, and Routing & Switching solutions.
- Conduct performance assessments, capacity planning, and optimization of Data Center networks.
- Produce and maintain high-quality documentation (HLDs, LLDs, MOPs, test reports, and as-built documents).
- Collaborate closely with Cisco Business Units, TAC, and partners to resolve complex technical issues.
- Provide proactive support, health checks, and knowledge transfer to customers.
- Participate in proof-of-concepts (CPOCs), lab validations, and pilot deployments.
- Contribute to automation efforts using Python, NSO, and REST APIs to streamline deployments and migrations.
- Engage in continuous improvement, mentoring, and technical enablement within the engineering team.
Core Technical Skills
Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure)
- Hands-on expertise with APIC, fabric setup, multi-site, contracts, and policies.
- Ability to troubleshoot discovery issues, endpoint learning, static bindings, bridge domains, and L3Out configurations.
- Experience with ACI migrations and application design.
Cisco Nexus Platforms
- Strong expertise in Nexus 2k/5k/7k/9k configuration, troubleshooting, and operations.
- Deep skills with NX-OS, vPC, FabricPath, VXLAN, and EVPN.
- Proficiency in multicast routing and device provisioning/upgrades.
Routing & Switching (Advanced)
- Practical experience with OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, route maps, redistribution, and peering.
- Ability to design and implement high-availability and failover scenarios.
- Strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching knowledge.
Automation & Tools
- Scripting experience with Python, applied to ACI migrations and automation tasks.
- Familiarity with XML/JSON and tools such as Cisco NSO, Postman, and Insomnia.
Experience
/
Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in IT/Engineering (or equivalent).
- 5+ years of experience
in Data Center projects (design, implementation, and troubleshooting).
- Proven experience in enterprise environments and mission-critical projects.
- CCNP Data Center is strongly preferred.
CCIE is a plus.
