About The Role
We are seeking an exceptional
Senior Data Scientist specializing in Lending
to join our dynamic and impactful team.

This is a pivotal role where you will combine rigorous statistical expertise with a profound understanding of lending economics to directly influence Felix Pago's growth trajectory.

You will be the architect and owner of Félix's underwriting models – from the initial conceptualization and feature design to advanced validation and continuous optimization.

Collaborating intensely with our Product, Engineering, and Collections teams, your work will be instrumental in enhancing approval rates, significantly reducing credit losses, and unlocking smarter, more sustainable growth strategies.

This role offers the unique chance to shape our lending products and directly contribute to the financial empowerment of our users.

*What You'll Do *

• Refine and optimize underwriting models for loans, including approved loan amounts.
  
  
• Identify and integrate leading indicators of credit risk, especially behavioral ones, and identify additional crucial data points.
  
  
• Lead the integration of diverse internal and external data sources into our underwriting model.
  
  
• Build, maintain, and ensure the compliance of Credit underwriting models throughout their lifecycle.
  
  
• Design and maintain comprehensive credit dashboards for originations and collections, providing actionable insights.
  
  
• Provide advanced analytical support to originations and collections teams to optimize key metrics.
  
  
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to integrate models into production systems and ensure ethical AI practices.
  
  
• Communicate complex analytical findings effectively to diverse audiences.
  
  

Requirements

• Credit Risk Modeling & Lending Domain Mastery.Deep expertise in credit risk modeling, underwriting processes, and lending economics.
  
  
• Proven ability to design, build, and deploy end-to-end ML solutions in production using a robust Python ecosystem.
  
  
• Applied MLOps expertise in model versioning, monitoring, and automated pipelines, working closely with engineering teams to ensure scalability and reliability.
  
  
• Advanced SQL skills for large-scale data extraction, transformation, and feature creation.
  
  
• Statistical Rigor & Problem Solving.
  
  Strong foundation in statistics.
  
  Hypothesis testing, sampling, and causal inference.
  
  
• Extreme Ownership and Bias for Action.
  
  Highly proactive, self-driven, with a strong sense of responsibility and a drive to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  
  
• Exceptional Communication & Collaboration.
  
  Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a track record of successful cross-functional collaboration.
  
  
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) with excellent communication skills.
  
  
• Equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.

• Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure)
• Experience with collections analytics, recovery modeling, or pricing optimization.
  
  
• Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools for model deployment and lifecycle management.
  
  
• Background in FinTech, startups, or other regulated industries with a focus on consumer lending.
  
  
• Experience with feature stores, model registries, and CI/CD pipelines for ML.
  
  
• Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
