About the Role
You'll play a key role in
designing, customizing, and scaling Backstage (Spotify's open-source Internal Developer Portal)
for enterprise use.
This role is all about creating seamless developer workflows, centralizing software catalogs, and enabling self-service capabilities for engineering teams across the organization.
You'll collaborate with infrastructure, platform, and security teams to make Backstage the core of the company's internal developer ecosystem.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop and extend Backstage plugins
to integrate CI/CD, cloud, monitoring, and identity tools.
- Automate infrastructure
with IaC tools (Terraform, Pulumi) to support multi-environment deployments.
- Architect and integrate enterprise systems
— from observability platforms to documentation and cloud services.
- Enhance developer experience
through workflow automation, self-service tools, and clear documentation.
- Customize and secure
Backstage instances for large-scale, multi-region usage.
- Collaborate
closely with platform, infrastructure, and SRE teams to deliver reliable, enterprise-ready developer portals.
- Document
best practices, onboarding guides, and usage documentation for both technical and non-technical teams.
About You
- 5+ years of experience as a
Software or Platform Engineer
in enterprise environments.
- Proven experience
building and maintaining Backstage
in production.
- Deep proficiency in
TypeScript, React, and
(the core Backstage tech stack).
- Solid understanding of
AWS, Docker, Kubernetes
, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a
focus on automation and developer enablement
.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills — you'll be working across multiple teams and time zones.
Nice to Have
- Contributions to the
Backstage open-source community
.
- Experience implementing
security, compliance, or multi-region
configurations.
- Familiarity with or Pulumi.
