Job Summary
As a Senior AWS Data Engineer, you will build, maintain, and scale the core data infrastructure across Redshift, Airflow, and AWS.
You’ll work closely with Platform and Product Engineering teams to ensure data systems are secure, reliable, and easy to use.
The role focuses on owning pipelines, productizing internal data services, mentoring others, and driving data access, quality, and observability.
Responsibilities
- Empower Others through Reliable Data Systems.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines using Airflow, dbt, and AWS‑native services.
- Manage and optimize Redshift clusters for performance, scalability, and cost‑efficiency.
- Own the architecture and lifecycle of our core data infrastructure.
- Serve as the subject‑matter expert on data engineering for both platform and product teams.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure data is modeled and accessible for reporting and feature development.
- Define data governance policies and enforce access controls across services.
- Build observability and alerting into pipelines, using Datadog or similar platforms.
- Ensure systems comply with audit standards such as SOC 2 and HIPAA.
- Partner cross‑functionally to gather data requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
- Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and retrospectives.
- Mentor junior team members and promote data engineering best practices.
Qualifications and Job Requirements
- 6+ years of data engineering experience with a strong focus on AWS environments.
- Deep knowledge of data warehouse design, ETL frameworks, and performance optimization within Redshift and AWS.
- Hands‑on experience with Airflow or other orchestration frameworks.
- Expertise in SQL, Python, and data modeling.
- Experience with dbt and modular data modeling.
- Proficiency in Redshift performance tuning.
- Familiarity with observability tools like Datadog.
- Strong analytical mindset and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and mentorship abilities.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and prioritize data initiatives.
