The Job
Overview: The Canva Designer plays a central role in producing high-quality, editable designs in Canva for Design Pickle’s clients.
This role focuses on turning creative requests into visually compelling assets, ranging from social media posts and marketing templates to presentations and light animations, while ensuring brand consistency, efficient turnaround, and platform-native functionality.
Designers in this role work exclusively in Canva and are expected to deeply understand its full feature set.
Work hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM PST/EST
Scope of Work
Design & Execution
- Create, adapt, and deliver design requests exclusively in Canva, including social media graphics, marketing collateral, presentations, pitch decks, and print-ready files.
- Rebuild and convert files from external formats (PDFs, Adobe files, etc.) into fully editable Canva templates with proper structure, fonts, and design elements.
- Use advanced Canva tools such as Magic Resize, Smartmockups, and Brand Hub to ensure designs are scalable, platform-ready, and brand-compliant.
- Set up reusable design systems in Canva with locked elements, text styles, and layout guides to support scalable workflows and client flexibility.
Collaboration & Workflow
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Art Directors, Team Coordinators, and Quality Specialists to align on project requirements and ensure smooth delivery.
- Provide clear, context-rich communication through internal tools and delivery notes (direct client interaction is typically limited to handoff messaging).
- Utilize Canva features like Version History, Comments, and Folders to support collaboration and maintain organized file structures.
- Creative Innovation
- Navigate Canva’s limitations (e.g., typography control, animation timing, asset management) with creative problem-solving and platform-native workarounds.
- Leverage Canva’s built-in animation and video features to create dynamic content when required.
The Profile
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Canva, with a portfolio showcasing:
- Editable Canva templates converted from PDFs or Adobe files
- Strong application of Brand Kits across social, marketing, and presentation formats
- Design work using features like Magic Resize, Smartmockups, and animation
- Ability to build reusable, scalable templates using locked elements, brand styles, and layout controls
- Strong understanding of Canva’s strengths and limitations, and ability to work natively within them
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and/or Figma
- Affinity Suite experience (Affinity Designer, Photo, or Publisher) is a strong plus
- Excellent organizational skills, with experience using Canva Folders and Brand Hub for asset management
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high volumes of quality design work quickly and accurately
- Strong collaboration and communication skills within internal creative and project teams
Bonus Experience (Preferred, Not Required)
- Experience working in Canva for Teams environments
- Working with enterprise-level brand guidelines across a wide variety of use cases
- Familiarity with Canva Docs or Charts for branded content development
- Awareness of Canva’s integrations (e.g., Slack, Google Drive, social publishing tools)

- Before fully joining, you’ll go through a 2-week evaluation period called Brine during PST business hours.
You’ll complete real design tasks to show your skills and speed.
