Overview
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE: Also known as a Pre-Sales Consultant or Sales Consultant, the Principal Solution Engineer – Service Cloud Specialist is responsible for showcasing the power of Salesforce Service Cloud, including Agentforce and Data Cloud, to prospects and customers.
This role builds confidence in Salesforce’s customer service and support capabilities while removing all technical objections during the sales cycle.
To accomplish this, the Solution Engineer must have a strong desire to leverage their technical and/or sales skills, including the ability to solicit business requirements, develop a technical sales strategy, configure and effectively demonstrate the solutions that address these requirements and provide business value.
The SE team is organized into several smaller teams based on the products they are selling.
This role falls within the team focused on Service Cloud suite supporting the Enterprise (largest) market segment.
Responsibilities
- Understand the customer’s needs, and establish Salesforce’s product as the best solution that solves our customer’s challenges.
- Build and deliver compelling, customized demos of Service Cloud, Agentforce, and Data Cloud capabilities, showing how they enhance agent productivity and service personalization.
- Convey deep knowledge of the customer’s technology as it pertains to Salesforce’s solutions.
- Act as a strategic advisor by conveying deep knowledge of customer technology stacks, business models, and service transformation goals.
- Participate in product, sales, and procedural trainings and certifications to remain a trusted expert.
- Achieve quarterly and annual objectives set by leadership.
- Collaborate closely with Account Executives, Solution Engineers, and Architects.
- Travel as needed based on territory and region.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in Solution Engineer/Pre-sales Engineer/Customer Success or similar role.
- Strong storytelling, presentation, and communication skills.
- Established and experienced pre-sales professional, ideally previous experience as a Sales Engineer for a CRM/AI company or similar technology.
- Deep understanding of CRM, AI for customer service, automation, and case management tools.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce Service Cloud, Data Cloud, and agent productivity tools like Agentforce.
- Cloud architecture knowledge, including data models, APIs, and integration patterns.

- Ability to communicate efficiently up, down and across an organization, summarizing concepts, scenarios and situations to senior internal and external individuals and teams, including positioning negative recommendations or proposals.
- Self-management and organizational skills, able to prioritize work based on evaluation of different requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior work with Salesforce Service Cloud, Agentforce, Data Cloud, or similar platforms.
- Experience in AI, automation, Generative AI Strategy and LLM-based Autonomous Agents.
- Salesforce Certifications.
- Basic programming experience in HTML and other web based technologies.
Experience will be evaluated based on alignment to the core proficiencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, volunteer work, etc.).
