About the Role
We are seeking experienced PLS-CADD Design Engineers to support an upcoming transmission line project.
This role involves converting paper-based plans and profile drawings of overhead electric transmission lines into AutoCAD and PLS-CADD electronic files.
Engineers must ensure drawings meet client standards, are technically accurate, and are delivered on schedule.
This is a remote, freelance role, with a project-based, and requiring close collaboration with our engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Convert paper plan and profile drawings of overhead transmission lines into AutoCAD and PLS-CADD formats.
- Capture alignment, structures, span lengths, conductor profiles, and clearances with precision.
- Apply client and industry CAD standards to all drawings.
- Coordinate with engineers to resolve discrepancies or incomplete input data.
- Maintain organized, version-controlled drawing files and documentation for project handover.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
- 5+ years of CAD drafting experience on transmission line or utility projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and PLS-CADD (required).
- Strong understanding of overhead transmission line design and plan/profile drawings.
- High attention to detail; ability to work efficiently with limited or incomplete data.
- Must be available to start quickly and commit to the project duration.
Preferred
- Experience with GIS integration for routing.
- Familiarity with utility CAD standards.
- Prior work on digitization or rehabilitation of transmission line drawings.
