The DBaaS (Database-as-a-Service) department provides Oracle database administration expertise and operational support to applications within Amadeus, in a follow-the-sun organization.
Summary of the role:
You will ensure the deployment, maintenance, performance, integrity, and security of the Oracle database platform.
You’ll support application teams, collaborate with engineering and product management, and help deliver best-in-class database experiences.
In this role you’ll:
Plan and deploy database clusters for multi-terabyte workloads, focusing on high-availability and fault-tolerance (including multi-site HA).Ensure storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures are operating correctly, including disaster recovery.Maintain and upgrade database clusters to comply with patching and security standards (PCIDSS / SOC / ISO27K).Monitor performance and tune database parameters for optimal experience.Investigate incidents, debug problems, and provide recovery solutions in 24x7 operations.Operate databases both on-premises and on Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.Participate in the on-call roster.Write and maintain documentation and procedural descriptions.Collaborate with development and product management for continuous improvement of Oracle automation and ecosystem.About the ideal candidate:
5+ years managing Oracle database technologies (19c, 23c) in a critical, highly available enterprise environment (24x7).Experience with Linux platforms.Experience with database automation (Ansible, Python, shell, etc.).Microsoft Azure experience and/or certification is a plus.Knowledge of other database technologies (MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server) is a plus.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.Certification in relational databases and/or programming is a plus.Hands-on exposure to latest Oracle versions and features.Experience with Oracle upgrades and data migration (Dataguard, Golden Gate, Datapump).Advanced hardware, OS (Linux), and storage knowledge.Knowledge of release management tools (e.g., Git).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in multinational, multicultural environments.Proactive mindset and knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) is a plus.Fluent in English and Spanish requiredWhat we can offer you:
