Plans, organizes, controls, develops and directs the design, development, implementation and maintenance of employee education, performance improvement, and communications to support operations in ensuring a high level of service.
Provides leadership and direction by promoting the people‑service‑profit philosophy, encouraging the growth and development of team members and indirect reports, and managing all other necessary activities in providing optimum services to customers.
Responsible for selecting, training and developing a staff of 1 to 20 direct reports, with an annual direct budget associated with staff.
Responsible for training and communication for indirect reports throughout the corporation globally.
Implements effective business and strategic training and communication to ensure operations provide quality services to customers.
Ensures cost effectiveness of department operations through control of equipment, supplies, overtime, and a timely, quality output to avoid monetary penalties and customer dissatisfaction.
Maintains contact with internal and external customers regarding conditions affecting appropriate service levels, supports and participates in the design, development, implementation, and follow‑up of training and performance‑improvement projects related to operations and professional development of staff, serves as L&D representative on corporate and enterprise projects, participates in business planning and strategy discussions, and makes decisions regarding strategies and deliverables on department business plan.
Maintains all required reports and paperwork, payroll, vacation schedules, performance reviews, personnel records through established guidelines, enforces company policy and procedures to ensure compliance with customs and related laws and regulations, identifies training requirements and coaches team members for professional development.
Performs other duties as assigned.
The following licenses or certifications preferred: CHB, CCS, IMDG, IATA, Ocean Forwarder Cert, CES and PMP.
