Position
Field Manager (Venezuela-based)
— supporting an upcoming assignment in
Venezuela
by overseeing field operations and ensuring the successful implementation of data collection activities, with a focus on
local context navigation, community engagement, logistics, safeguarding, and data quality
.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead fieldwork logistics and execution across Venezuela (e.g., Distrito Capital/Caracas, Miranda, La Guaira, Zulia, Táchira, Bolívar, Amazonas, Anzoátegui, Monagas, Sucre, Lara, Carabobo, Aragua, Mérida), ensuring alignment with local regulations and community protocols.
- Recruit, supervise, and support enumerator teams to deliver high-quality, ethical, and timely data collection in urban, peri-urban, rural, and hard-to-reach settings across Región Capital, Occidente, Andes, Guayana, Oriente y Los Llanos.
- Coordinate participant mobilization with local stakeholders, including gobernaciones, alcaldías, consejos comunales, community leaders, and partner NGOs.
- Conduct spot checks, field monitoring, and troubleshooting; proactively manage security, access, mobility, and weather challenges (e.g., rainy season, remote riverine/forest areas, border zones).
- Ensure accurate reporting of field progress to the STOOS coordination team; provide contextual insights to strengthen analysis and reporting.
- Uphold safeguarding, informed consent, Do-No-Harm, and data protection standards at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Social Sciences, Public Health, Development Studies, or a related field.
- 3+ years managing fieldwork for research, surveys, or M&E assignments in Venezuela.
- Proven experience supervising enumerators across multi-site or complex contexts; strong track record in community engagement.
- Fluency in Spanish (Venezuela) is essential; professional English required for coordination and reporting; Indigenous languages (e.g., Wayuunaiki, Warao, Pemón) are a strong asset.
- Hands-on use of digital data collection tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO) and integration into analysis workflows.
- Ability to manage teams under tight timelines and adapt to changing logistical and security dynamics.
- Valid work authorization in Venezuela and ability to travel domestically as needed; clean professional references.
- Familiarity with safeguarding, Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), and ethical research norms.
