Ash & Harris Executive Search is looking for an Assistant Dean – Workforce Development

Overview

The Assistant Dean for Workforce Development (WFD) is a key leadership role responsible for assisting the Dean with the instructional and operational management of the nursing program at a specified WFD site.

This position requires a dynamic individual who can balance teaching, administrative duties, program compliance, and clinical site management to ensure the program’s success and adherence to all regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Management: Assist in planning, developing, managing, and evaluating all aspects of the nursing program, including curriculum, faculty, staff, policies, procedures, and budget.

  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure program compliance with Board and accreditor regulations; prepare data and reports for state requirements, self‑studies, and site visits.

  • Clinical Coordination: Manage all aspects of clinical site partnerships, including assessments, placements, contracts, and evaluations to ensure a high‑quality student experience.

  • Faculty Leadership: Supervise and support faculty, oversee teaching activities, ensure timely completion of student evaluations, and facilitate curriculum development.

  • Student Success: Participate in student admission, orientation, and advising; lead academic support initiatives for at‑risk students; ensure students meet graduation and licensing requirements.

  • Teaching: Maintain a 50% teaching load in skills lab, simulation lab, and/or clinical settings.

Requirements

Education

  • Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred.

  • A master’s degree in Education, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is required.

  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree must be currently enrolled or willing to enroll in a master’s program (with tuition forgiveness available).

Experiences

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in workforce development, higher education administration, or a related area.

  • A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in a pre‑ or post‑licensure nursing program.

  • 4 years of continuous experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.

  • Proven track record in successful program development, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Experience in supervision, strategic planning, and budget preparation.

Other

  • A valid and active Registered Nursing License for the state where the WFD site is located (California RN license for CA‑based positions; relocation assistance for licensure is available).

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and lead diverse teams.

  • Proficiency with technology (e.g., MS Teams, Zoom, Learning Management Systems).

  • Committed to diversity and able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary

  • $130,000 per year.
