Job Description
As an Airfreight or Ocean Freight Pricing Expert you will support the execution of an improved global tender process for airfreight or ocean freight product.
The AFR / OFR pricing expert manages the technical translation of customer formats, including collection of the rates from the country teams and translating bid strategy, customer requirements and network fit into the bid response.
Key Responsibilities
- Bid Management: Support the Gatekeeper from pre-bid to post-bid on nominated AFR / OFR opportunities.
- Manage incoming RFQ’s and collaborate with stakeholders to prepare, finalize and deliver timely and winning tender responses.
- Engage with country teams and regional pricing teams to ensure bid responses are checked and validated for accuracy and adherence to customer requirements.
- Translate and execute CPT-IPT-CPT and evaluate country pricing to bid, benchmarking against comparative bid data to optimize pricing effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain strong contacts with internal customers (Commercial Owner, Industry Sector Sales, Account- and Product-Management).
- Keep up to date with products and relevant market developments.
- Follow up on submitted bids with Bid Managers to capture outcomes and lessons learned.
- Understand complex customer requirements including air and ocean transportation, sector knowledge, and IT solutions.
- Support and document online sourcing activities with the countries and develop technical narratives related to Airfreight / Ocean Freight solutions.
Sanity Check & Review
- Check internal consistency with guidance or pricing instructions.
- Challenge pricing as necessary with CACC/ROCC.
- Support on re-rounds and final offers; validation with regional/countries as needed.
- Analyze to support walk-away decisions and assist decision makers with final rounds.
Continuous Improvement
- Shorten turn-around times and improve quality.
- Work with Regional AFR / OFR teams to enable competitive pricing solutions.
- Other tasks as required by Regional AFR / OFR Product.
Qualifications & Skills
- Knowledge of Airfreight / Ocean Freight forwarding business and understanding of supply chain logistics.
- Operations experience in a complex global environment.
- Strong people and communication skills.
- Effective time management with problem solving and decision making.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Minimum 3 years air/ocean operations experience.
- Very advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel.
- Advanced Project Management Skills.
- Very good English skills, both written and spoken.
- Degree in Business Administration or related subject.
