Otium is a rapidly growing, tech-enabled hospitality company committed to redefining the vacation rental and boutique hotel experience.

We manage a portfolio of boutique hotels and short-term rentals in prime destinations, providing exceptional stays for travelers while optimizing revenue and financial performance for property owners.

We are seeking a highly motivated Manager, Finance & Accounting to lead and scale the financial and accounting operations of our dynamic hospitality management company.

This leadership role will be responsible for all aspects of financial strategy, planning, reporting, accounting, and compliance.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a systems thinker, and has a deep understanding of hospitality operations and the nuances of short-term rental revenue cycles.

Position Overview

As Manager of Finance & Accounting, you'll play a critical leadership role in scaling the financial backbone of our short-term rental and boutique hotel management company.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is not afraid to dig into the details and execute tasks, with the capacity and desire to build and manage a team as the company scales.

This role, like all positions within our growing company, requires a proactive and adaptable approach.

As the Manager of Finance and Accounting, you will oversee all financial operations—from strategic planning and budgeting to day-to-day accounting, reporting, and compliance—ensuring we remain both agile and fiscally sound as we grow.

This is a hands-on and high-impact position, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, understands the nuances of hospitality revenue cycles, and is passionate about building efficient systems that empower great financial decision-making.

You'll work closely with the executive team to drive performance, improve owner transparency, and support sustainable, long-term growth across our portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, and analysis to support company growth and decision-making.

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's objectives.

  • Advise the CEO and leadership team on financial risks, opportunities, and strategic investments.

Accounting & Reporting

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings and reporting.

  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial statements (GAAP-compliant).

  • Manage and optimize the chart of accounts and accounting systems.

Operational Finance

  • Partner with operations, marketing, and revenue management to improve unit profitability.

  • Design and monitor KPIs to drive financial performance at the portfolio level.

  • Implement cost controls, budgeting processes, and variance analysis.

  • Manage cash flow to support company operations, including cash disbursement approvals, liquidity forecasting, and working capital monitoring.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.

  • Manage audits, banking relationships, and insurance matters.

  • Develop and enforce internal controls and financial policies.

  • Ensure all company permits, licenses, contracts, and insurance policies are up to date and compliant with local and federal laws.

Team & Systems Management

  • Build and lead a high-performing accounting and finance team.

  • Oversee the implementation and integration of financial software and tech stack (e.g., QuickBooks, property management systems, owner portals).

  • Continuously improve processes and automate reporting where possible.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA strongly preferred).

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting; at least 4 years in a team leadership role.

  • Experience in hospitality, real estate, or short-term rental sectors is highly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition, cash flow management, and P&L ownership.

  • Proficient in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage) and Excel/Google Sheets.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is essential.
