Enhanced Monitoring Analyst – Scotiabank
We are seeking an Enhanced Monitoring Analyst to contribute to the success of the Enhanced Monitoring Program for the Enterprise and supporting Business Lines.
The role aims to reduce risk related to insider threat and enable effective monitoring of insiders while ensuring alignment with individual goals, plans, and initiatives in support of the unit’s business strategies and objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- Customer Focused Culture: Champion a customer-focused culture and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Business Knowledge: Maintain expert knowledge of Bank processes, policies, procedures, applications, and products related to Insider Threat and Internal Fraud risk; apply this in monitoring and reporting.
- Documentation & Audit Readiness: Support management in maintaining high-risk regulatory and operational controls, and related documentation (handbooks, test plans, methodology, schedules, reporting, etc.).
- Enhanced Monitoring Program: Conduct reviews, technical analysis, and reporting of insider activity data and monitoring alerts for assigned units.
Activities include: - Collaborating with peers/managers to translate monitoring rules into positive matches.
- Executing reviews in accordance with policies/procedures.
- Preparing and communicating reports of review findings; ensuring investigations and corrections are in place.
- Recording results concisely and accurately; analyzing alerts from security/monitoring tools.
- Escalating as required; maintaining confidentiality; ensuring concise and accurate records.
- Identifying problems and anomalies; escalating issues as applicable.
) - Incident Investigation: Follow predefined actions to investigate possible security or privacy incidents and follow-up actions, including escalation as needed.
- Relationship Management: Develop and maintain relationships with business units and support functions; collaborate with security teams to improve prevention and detection models.
- Other Projects: Perform ad-hoc reviews and other duties as assigned.
- Risk Appetite & Culture: Understand risk appetite and culture in day-to-day activities.
- Regulatory & Operational Risks: Contribute to efficient operations and adherence to day-to-day business controls to meet regulatory obligations (operational risk, compliance, AML/ATF risk, conduct risk).
Education / Experience / Other Information
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and negotiation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to prepare documentation and interact with multiple Bank departments.
- Good accountability and time-management skills.
- Thorough knowledge of Bank regulations, policies, procedures, operations, and functions.
- Working knowledge of Global Operations units across Canadian & International Banking; experience in Contact Center and/or Collections.
- Current awareness of regulatory requirements and best practices in operational risk.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and Power BI; capability in big data analytics, data modeling, or data science for intelligence analysis.
- Highly motivated with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or relevant banking/operational risk management experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish / English).
Working Conditions
- Office-based environment; non-standard hours may be required.
Location: GBS Colombia Campus.
No travel required.
