Job description

One Mission Society has a vision of making reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ and equipping them to be transformational in their spheres of influence.

In order to accomplish this vision, the Disciple-Making Coordinator in Colombia, working with and leading a Disciple-Making team, will model disciple-making practices with individuals and churches in their geographical area in order to steward the conditions for a disciple-making movement to take place.

Responsibilities

  • Personally engage with and utilize OMS-approved processes to help others grow in their faith and become reproducing disciples of Jesus.

  • Work with the Disciple-Making team to plan and execute a disciple-making process in local churches and networks.

    This includes starting disciple-making ‘bands’ within churches, training leaders, and identifying future leaders.

  • Spiritually prepare churches for partnership with Church Development to help reach their local communities.

  • Lead the development of new strategies and training opportunities in disciple-making, including planning conferences and trainings.

  • Identify new resources and processes, and pass information to leadership for broad implementation.

  • Implement processes for translating materials as needed.

  • Collaborate with the Disciple-Making and Church Development teams to develop effective processes and relationships.

  • Assist in other OMS Country Team ministries as appropriate.

  • Willingness to learn the local language to an intermediate or advanced level.

  • Provide oversight, coaching, and support for Disciple-Making Facilitators, short-termers, and interns.

  • Promote and exemplify the cultural values of the Disciple-Making Ministry Team.

Skills and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Experience in ministry leadership is a plus.

  • Understanding of spiritual disciplines and scriptural application.

  • Ability to network effectively with partners.

  • Leadership skills to inspire and value team members in disciple-making.

  • Ability to work with a translator or attain fluency in the local language.

  • Capability to connect short-term strategies with long-term goals.

  • Professional presentation and enthusiastic engagement in tasks.

  • Ability to incorporate the compassion of Christ into all tasks.

This is a support-based position involving raising financial support through ministry partners for salary and expenses.
