Role Summary
In this highly visible, customer-facing role as Solution Validation Services Consulting Engineer, you will engage with clients and internal stakeholders to plan and execute validation engagements.
Activities include building and configuring lab environments, authoring and executing test plans, validating designs against requirements, documenting results, identifying issues and gaps, and working with engineering and delivery teams to resolve them.
The Solution Validation Services (SVS) team focuses on validating complex customer-specific networks and accelerating adoption of new technologies and solutions.
With expertise across a broad product portfolio and world-class global facilities, SVS designs and deploys technologies that give customers a competitive edge.
As part of SVS, you will help drive growth by designing next-generation solution validation labs and validating solutions for Data Center, Enterprise, and Service Provider customers, while informing customers about trending network technologies and accelerating adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with clients and other stakeholders on successful planning and execution of validation engagements.
- Support next generation R&S, Enterprise and Service Provider customers to accelerate implementation of new platforms/solutions.
- Validate new design solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Drive requirements discussions, analyze test requirements, build test lab configurations, author and execute test plans, and document results.
- Identify key issues and gaps and work with engineering and delivery teams to resolve them.
- Develop/integrate new technologies into lab environments.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects from Delivery and Sales teams regarding future initiatives and securing customer business.
- Innovate to gain efficiency and accelerate validation efforts.
- Collaborate with other engineers to ensure successful project delivery.
- Identify and facilitate new business growth opportunities.
Core Technical Skills
- Deep technical expertise with Core routing and switching across Enterprise and Service Provider.
- Very good understanding and experience on L2 switching, L3 routing, and routing protocols (specifically OSPF and BGP).
- Understanding and experience with VPNs (IPsec, DMVPN, ISAKMP, IKE, etc.) and MPLS.
- Understanding of other protocols/features such as NAT, QoS, SNMP, TACACs, etc.
- Experience with Catalyst 8ks, ASRs and ISR; good understanding and experience with IOS‑XE and IOS‑XR.
- Basic Programming/Scripting skill (preferably Python).
- Basic working knowledge in yang models, configuration management, APIs and operational models.
- Proficient with industry test tools; Spirent or Ixia preferred.

Certifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT/Engineering (or equivalent).
- Customer-facing experience (ability to interface and interact with customers successfully).
- Previous experience in complex network troubleshooting or TAC‑style experience.
- Preferably a CCNA or CCNP level certification.
Preferred Skills
- Programming/scripting, orchestration and automation (preferably Python, Ansible, Terraform).
- Good understanding of data models; data formats such as YAML, JSON and XML; and APIs.
- Experience in large‑scale enterprise network deployments.
- Experience with network management and monitoring tools.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and VPN technologies.
- Knowledge of designing Enterprise solutions, DMVPNs, and hub‑spoke topologies.
- Preferred exposure to ISRs, ASRs and Catalyst product lines and IOS‑XE and IOS‑XR.
