Compensation: USD $1,200–$1,500

Location: Fully Remote (LATAM-based) | 40 hours per week | U.S. Business Hours

Role Summary & Mission

Higher Options is seeking a highly precise and structured Bilingual Bookkeeper to provide remote accounting support to small and mid‑size businesses across the U.S. and LATAM.

If you thrive on organization, accuracy, and working independently behind the scenes, this role is built for you.

You’ll own the full bookkeeping cycle—from reconciliations to reporting—with a strong focus on compliance, systems, and continuous improvement .

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving financial puzzles, building reliable processes, and keeping numbers clean, without needing frequent social interaction to stay engaged.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily bookkeeping tasks , including general ledger maintenance and bank reconciliations
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable : issue invoices, record payments, monitor outstanding balances
  • Prepare monthly reports : balance sheets, P&L statements, cash flow summaries
  • Support budgeting and forecasting with accurate historical data
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls; implement process improvements or automations when relevant
  • Communicate with clients in both English and Spanish —primarily in writing (email, systems notes)

Qualifications & Work Environment

  • Experience : 3+ years in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial operations
  • Systems : Proficient in QuickBooks Online, Xero, Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with accounting tools and integrations is a plus
  • Standards : Solid understanding of GAAP and/or local accounting practices
  • Languages : Professional fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken
  • Attributes : Methodical, self-directed, detail‑obsessed, and comfortable working independently in a structured environment
  • Setup : Stable home office with high‑speed internet; availability to work during U.S. business hours

Work Conditions & Benefits

  • Schedule: Full‑time (40 hours per week), Monday through Friday, aligned with U.S. business hours (primarily CST)
  • Paid time off: Often includes Colombian holidays and paid vacation days, depending on the client
  • Remote work: Work from anywhere with a stable internet connection
