Accounting Analyst - Finance Services Unit
Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Wealth operation in the Finance Services Unit by ensuring that specific goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.
Ensures all activities comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
The Accounting Analyst is responsible for ensuring that transactions booked in the GL system reflect the economic reality, considering the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions for the bank’s subsidiaries and guaranteeing the reasonableness of accounting information under the scope of the Accounting Team in Bogota.
Accountabilities
- Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Record and post transactions in local and enterprise systems for daily, monthly, and quarterly processes.
- Maintain all supporting documentation updated.
- Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations.
- Follow up on open items in accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Prepare, analyze, and issue accounting and technical reports.
- Prepare payments through Bank systems.
- Support report preparation (Financial Statements, information/reports requested by external and internal auditors).
- Analyze the P&L reasonability per account level and provide comments for the assigned business unit.
- Identify process improvement opportunities for the team and escalate to the Accounting Supervisor.
- Keep Desktop Training Procedures (DTP) documents for relevant processes up to date.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, ensuring the adequacy, adherence, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations related to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least 6 months to 1 year of experience in accounting processes, treasury, accounts payable, or banking is a plus.
- Experience with computerized ledger systems.
- Intermediate Excel skills and basic to intermediate English skills (A2 – B1 level).
- Analytical skills.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
Working Conditions
Work in a standard office environment; non-standard hours may be required.
